Our inspiration: a dream for affordable living
The pandemic and rising rents sparked an idea: to offer affordable housing without the pressure of Wall Street profits. My journey began in 2018 and 2020, renting units to young couples, finding pride in being part of their stories. In 2022, I rented to a single father, enjoying seeing his family thrive in the home where I grew up.
Our commitment: support and kindness
In 2023, I formalized my dream by filing MagCorn, LLC after attending a business workshop with the Greater Englewood Community Development Corporation. Now, in 2026, I am actively seeking funding to turn this vision into a reality for others. I hope MagCorn, LLC gives people a stable place to live, knowing they have a support system during hard times. We believe in being landlords who know your name and story, not just seeing you as a payment, and showing kindness every step of the way.
Affordability through care and community
Our commitment to affordability and a positive living experience stems from being a present landlady, living near our properties, and a thorough vetting process. People want to live in places where they feel cared for, which in turn fosters a community that cares about the property. Since there are no investors to pay, just me and various contractors, we can maintain truly affordable rates.

Currently, we are focused on critical renovation projects. We need to replace the roofs on all three structures of our two properties and undertake complete renovations on the single-family property and the in-law house of the second property. The two-unit needs some cosmetic work. Your support can help us bring these much-needed affordable homes to life in Chicago's Southside.
